Easy way to cook Som Tam

  1. Peel the green papayas and cut them into small cubes. Soak them in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of lime juice, ensuring they marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of lime juice (from the soak), 10-20 Thai chili peppers (depending on spice preference), 3 tablespoons of fish sauce, 3 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt until well combined.
  3.  If adding cherry tomatoes, halve them and pat them dry. Slice long beans or snake beans thinly.
  4. Pour the dressing over the marinated papayas and toss gently to coat. Add any optional ingredients (e.g., cherry tomatoes, long beans) and mix well.

Pro version

  1. Add grilled shrimp or tofu for an extra protein punch.
  2. Substitute mango for papaya when in season for a sweet twist.

Tips / Plating:

  1. Serve immediately for the freshest taste.
  2. Otherwise, refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  3. Garnish with fresh cilantro and peanuts for texture.
